Upgradeable iPhone storage?

There have been a lot of buzz on the Net in the recent weeks that iPhone users in China have successfully upgrade their storage for a small cost on phone repair shops.

iPhones have a limited internal storage with no means of external storage such as microSD card support in these devices. Thus, most of the users have difficulties of managing and expanding the phone storage, especially those who are using the 16 gigabytes base models. The available flash drives for the iPhone is somewhat a nuisance.

But now with these 'storage upgrade' solution, ye' need more storage? Say no more. Reported the storage upgrade costs about merely $70 and above, depending on the desired storage capacity.

As we know it, of course the procedure for 'expanding' the storage on an iPhone is not as easy as changing the hard drive on a PC or laptop.

The procedure for the upgrade is really risky for the device as it involves removing the NAND chip or the storage chip from the device's motherboard by desoldering it and then replacing it with a compatible one with bigger capacity.

According to various sources on the Internet, the storage upgrade option is available for iPhone 5 up to iPhone 6.

The older memory chip is backed up by a chip reader module and then transferred to the new one, thus important data such as IMEI, Wi-Fi MAC address, serial numbers, iCloud and app data can be retained. There have been reported that over 70 users have successfully upgraded their iPhone storage.

This is a loophole for the iPhones, but none of the Apple authorities have said anything about this.

IMO: Well, it would be great if this procedure could be done the same for other devices.

But don't get too excited for these storage upgrade thing, alright? There are loads of fake flash storage out there. We just don't know how reliable are these upgrade 'chips'.

But if this storage upgrade service is available in your country/area, and you still want to be a daredevil to try it, why not? Kindly comment here if you've done this and share your experience.

How to Install Xposed Framework on Android Lollipop 5.1

Uploaded a new video!

Xposed Framework is a revolutionary tool for our Android devices, which allows you to customize and tweak your (rooted) device, without the necessity to install custom ROMs.

Available since Gingerbread, kudos to rovo89 and his teams, they have made it compatible with Lollipop, despite it's big Dalvik to ART transition.

However, the gap of Lollipop 5.0 to 5.1 is quite big that the Xposed for Lollipop 5.0 isn't really compatible for 5.1.

Thanks to romracer, he has brought Xposed Framework (unofficially, with permission) to Lollipop 5.1.

In this video, I will show you step-by-step how to install Xposed Framework on your Lollipop 5.1 device.

It's a really simple process, 4 steps and you're good to go!

Please be noted that this Xposed for Lollipop 5.1 for now only works on ARM-powered, 32 or 64-bit devices and it is not available for x86, yet.

Where to get a lightweight version of ADB and Fastboot?

You need ADB and Fastboot to debug or tweak your Android device, but then you feel that Android SDK/Studio is too large to download or unnecessary?

Look no further, there's a solution to that.

Thanks to shimp208  at XDA-Developers, he has extracted ADB & Fastboot from the SDK suite and packed them in a convenient installer (it's just 2MB in size!)

I've personally tested on my PC (64-bit) and it works!
